Fluoropolymer as a coating
The key properties of fluoropolymer coatings are corrosion protection and abrasion resistance. The most commonly used fluoropolymer coating is PTFE, and this typically has a very low co-efficient of friction and an excellent lubricity. It is very tolerant of temperatures up to 260° C and also provides an element of surface release as it is non-stick.
Other fluoropolymers have been developed and these are generally classed as thermo plastic, PFA and FEP are typical examples. With correct application and curing techniques fluoropolymer coatings can provide pore free chemically resistant surfaces.
For any surface coating to achieve and maintain its designed properties, it is absolutely vital that the substrate surface is correctly prepared, we therefore meticulously carry out all recommended pre-treatment processes. We have also made substantial investment in the development of other pre-treatment methods which exceed the performance of those recommended.
